Are Witnesses TRULY Honest, Humble and Hungry? (The 3 H's)

how many times did we hear the worn out expression "that anyone who accepts the "truth" needs to have the 3 h's".

yes, they must be "honest hearted.

hungry for truth, and humble enough to accept that they need to change".

Sorry never heard of the 3 H's. Is this something new that has come out in the last 6 years? I understand the first two but what are they hungry for? Steak! LOL. Still Totally ADD

What is behind your choice of forum user name?

just curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.

there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.

i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.

I deal with ADD and I saw a PBS program on the subject. They was pushing a book called Totally ADD. So my first user name was Totally ADD. Several years later my computer died and when I got a new one and try to set up my account on the new one I could not find my password so I set up a new account. Had to change my account name so I came up with Still Totally ADD. Still Totally ADD

Do WT Publications Make Us Feel Unworthy, Unlovable and Helpless?

it is my contention that the wtbts, (as do all high-control, authoritarian cults), deliberately cultivates dysfunctional beliefs among its members.

in particular, the most destructive of these beliefs are those that undermine one's feelings of self-worth.

for a research project i am doing, i am looking for direct quotes from wt publications that seem to be specifically designed to manipulate the readers into feeling: unworthy, unlovable, inadequate and/or helpless.

If you feel good it must be bad. If you feel bad it must be good. Is this what is meant by feeling unworthy, unlovable and helpless? Then yes this is what the WT publications always have taught. Still Totally ADD

Welcome back Preston. Just when I was coming on to the board you left because of health. Many new ones have come to the board in the last few years. According to the Borg we are all mentally diseased. The GB have become big TV stars in their own mind. They now have cartoons encouraging children to give their ice cream money to the Borg. The Borg sex crimes are becoming more exposed. Also their charitable status is in question in many country's. That is all I can think of now. Happy to have you back. Still Totally ADD

Did You Know You Can Have Seizures While You Sleep and Not Know It?

i have to take some time off even from some of my favorite activities for a while...that means here...until i can adjust to a new medical therapy.. i just learned today that i have nocturnal epilepsy and have been having seizures almost every night for several decades!

wow!

just started medication that will mess me up when it comes to processing my thinking and typing for a while, so until that straightens out i will just have to read for now.. but look it up.

What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?

there were many addressed to me.

for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.

i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

One time I told a C.O. the reason I was missing some meetings was I was my wife and I was blessed by God with a new baby. He took me aside and told me God didn't bless me with anything I just had sex with my wife and she got pregnant. That was no excuse to miss meetings. Let's all repeat it (It's A Cult). Do You Have Any Indoctrinated Guilt Left Over?

i voted this morning for the first time.

at 32yo i wondered in a church of england parish hall with no idea what i was doing.

everyone else knew how to do it.

Great story P.E. Here on the other side of the pond I went through the same guilt. The first time I ever voted I was 57 years old. No lightning, earthquakes or hail stone's. Just a nice sunny day. By the way being a born-in I act like a little kid when it comes to birthdays and Christmas. LOL. Still Totally ADD

Vegetarians in the "new system?"

so i was looking on instagram and one of my former jw friends was showing pictures of his bbq ribs and saying something about well we better eat all the pigs we can now since we won't be eating meat in the new system of things?

i don't seem to remember that teaching but does anyone else?
